Thomas Ogden — Certified Specialist in Appellate Law
Thomas Ogden has practiced law for over 20 years and is certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in both Appellate Law and Taxation Law.
He has represented and advised hundreds of clients in connection with civil and criminal appellate matters throughout California, before numerous United States Courts of Appeals, and in international and Commonwealth-related proceedings. His experience includes matters reaching the California Supreme Court and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Ogden also qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales and obtained Civil Higher Rights of Audience, permitting him to exercise rights of audience as a solicitor advocate in the higher civil courts of England and Wales. He has also been admitted as a solicitor in Ireland. His overseas admissions are presently non-practising, though he continues to advise on appropriate international and Commonwealth litigation-related matters.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Ogden was an associate in KPMG's International Corporate Services group, advising multinational businesses on complex international tax and financial matters. He later practiced in the private sector as an associate to a former Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service and a former Chief of the Tax Division of the United States Department of Justice.
Mr. Ogden earned both his Juris Doctor and an LL.M. in Federal Taxation, with Distinction, from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. He earned his B.A. in East Asian Studies from the University of Virginia, where he also played varsity lacrosse, and he is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
His work has attracted national media attention. Mr. Ogden has been quoted multiple times by The Wall Street Journal, and one of his cases was the subject of a major cover story in the newspaper.
He previously served as Honorary Consul in Los Angeles for the Republic of Vanuatu.
Mr. Ogden is available to consult on California and federal appeals and writ proceedings, civil and white-collar criminal appellate matters, matters before the California Supreme Court and the Supreme Court of the United States, and cross-border disputes involving Commonwealth jurisdictions.
